Why You Can't FOCUS - And How To Fix That

Being able to focus is almost like a superpower. It is rare to see someone who can concentrate on a single task for hours. Today, we will discuss what is preventing you from focusing and what you can do to improve it.

We have two types of focus: scattered focus and directed focus. If you want your mind to function optimally, you need to take care of your body. For instance, if you sleep for less than 7 hours per day, your concentration will suffer. Getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep leads to a better ability to focus during the day. Exercise should also be done daily to help improve your concentration.

Concentration is a skill that you can train, just like you would train for a sport. The more you do it, the better you become at it. The best time to focus is in the morning, about an hour after waking up. The best way to practice your focus is to set aside a dedicated time each day to train it.

Concentrating for a longer period of time is mentally tiring, regardless of whether it's scattered or directed focus. It's essential to take a break and give your mind some rest after a while. The Pomodoro technique combines intense focus and mental breaks.

First, choose a task to focus on, then set a timer for 25 minutes and concentrate solely on that task. Once the timer rings, take a 5-minute break and restart the timer. After completing four 25-minutes sessions, take a longer break.

It doesn't have to be so rigid; use the Pomodoro technique as a daily habit to tie intense focus and regular breaks together perfectly.
